Thank you for visiting our Web site. As members of the South Oldham Rotary Club, we enjoy a diverse and high-energy membership that enjoys the fellowship and service that comes with being a Rotarian.
Our Club was chartered in November 9, 1994. Over the past thirteen years, we have enjoyed many Club activities, working with Rotary International on their International programs and have participated in numerous community service projects.
South Oldham Rotary Club is currently involved in community services such as: Project Graduation; Boy Scouts of America; Rotary “Student of the Month” recognition and a local scholarship fund. Several years back, we built a pavilion for the Oldham County Senior Citizens Center and, in 2007, we completed a total renovation of the courtyard at the Oldham County Arts Center.
Our Club participates, on a regular basis, with Rotary International’s Group Study Exchange. Being a “host Club” gives our members the opportunity to meet guests from foreign countries for a vocational/cultural exchange of ideas. We also solicit applicants for a reciprocated visit to the home country of our visitors. To date, we have hosted GSE guests from Australia, South Korea, Turkey, Argentina, France and Germany. In 2008, we will be hosting GSE groups from the Dominican Republic and Japan.
Other International projects that we have been involved in is routine care and eye surgeries at St. Jude Hospital in St. Lucia and with our Rotary District (6710) in their efforts to provide safe drinking water to the indigent population in areas of Mexico and Costa Rica.
In participating with Rotary International’s request of $100.00 per member, per club, per year towards their goal to provide “ Safe Drinking Water, Worldwide”, we are fulfilling our commitment to them by an additional voluntary fee of $25.00 on our quarterly dues.
I hope that as you browse our Web site, you will see the history and commitment of fellowship and service that Rotary personifies. We, here at South Oldham Rotary Club, enjoy our lighthearted camaraderie and long-term friendships, while working continually on the Rotary slogan "Service Above Self”.
I, and all our members, invite you to become a part of the South Oldham Rotary Club.
Ed Kalmey
